IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT--POSSIBLE CHANGES

I have been thinking a lot about this challenge lately.  I had it in mind to extend the deadline until January 31, 2011.  But then I got to thinking about the length of the list.  While the top 101 is manageable, the total list is over 800.  And I have found myself wanting to read from the entire list because, basically these are recommendations from other readers, which is gold in my mind.  So I'm thinking about making this a perpetual challenge.  No deadlines...just working toward reading through the 101 list or the entire list.  It's your choice as to which list you wish to complete.  If I make it perpetual, I will probably post new review linkys quarterly.

Anyway, I would like your input.  I have created a poll (in the sidebar).  Please answer the poll and I will make my decision before the original deadline of October 10, 2010.  I hope you will answer the poll.  Your opinion is important to me.  And feel free to leave me a comment as well.

Happy Reading!

P.S. I just wanted to apologize for my failure to comment on your reviews.  I am a bad hostess! I promise I will do better in the future, if you will please forgive me!

  1. I voted to extend the deadline. I like perpetual challenges, but I have trouble getting around to actually reading the books if not given a firm deadline.

  2. I love the idea of it being perpetual, but I do agree with Jennifer that deadlines help. Maybe have quarterly challenges to push people to read?

  3. Trisha, that is a great idea. I am leaning toward making it perpetual, but if I do, I will definitely come up with some mini-challenges every few months for incentive. Thanks for the idea!

I'm also emailing this to you, just in case!

  4. I voted for perpetual but agree incentives are probaly needed to make that work. I've had problems tring to find something on that 101 list that I haven't read, is available here, and I actually want to read.

  5. Please give me mini deadlines at least!

  6. I think if it were to be perpetual, then the 101 fantasy list would need to be updated yearly or something, since new books are constantly being published and all.

  7. Thanks for letting me know about this!

I voted for perpetual because there are so many great books on the list that I want to read - I joined fairly late on and so kept my aims low (because I hated the idea of rushing books just to cram them in to the time..).

I also agree with Trisha though - little quarterly challenges would be great! Not sure about updating the list though...I'd just worry about shifting goalposts!

Maybe we could have like a discussion place for people to add to a new 'Members' list aside from the 'main' list?
